How to import CSV into Confluence
CSV is a practical source when another system can export rows and columns but does not need to stay connected live to Confluence.
Check the CSV
Confirm the delimiter, header row, text encoding, and quoting around values that contain commas or line breaks. Consistent column values improve automatic type detection.
Create the table
Insert Simple Table, paste CSV content or upload/select the file, review the preview, configure columns and display controls, and publish.
- Paste or select the CSV
- Review headings
- Confirm number and date columns
- Enable the required viewer controls
- Publish
Update the data
When the source changes, edit the macro and replace or edit the imported data. Verify calculated columns and grouping after any structural change to the CSV.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paste CSV instead of uploading a file?
Yes. Simple Tables supports pasted CSV and JSON content.
What happens when a CSV column mixes numbers and text?
Type detection uses the observed values. Review mixed columns in the preview and set the intended type explicitly when needed.
