How to import Excel into Confluence

Simple Tables reads XLS and XLSX files in the browser and turns the selected sheet into a configurable table on the Confluence page.

Prepare the workbook

Use a clear header row, keep each column consistent, and remove decorative rows that are not part of the dataset. Date and number formatting should represent the values users expect to sort and calculate.

Import the file

Insert the Simple Table macro, choose an imported-data source, upload or select the workbook, choose the relevant sheet when prompted, and review the generated preview.

  • Insert Simple Table
  • Select or upload XLS/XLSX
  • Review detected headings and data types
  • Configure table controls
  • Publish the page

Validate before publishing

Check date columns, zero values, formulas represented as values, and empty cells. Then test sorting and calculations in the preview.
