Hide Columns

Temporarily hide unwanted columns to declutter your view without deleting any data. Simple Tables lets you toggle column visibility on demand, just by clicking the “eye” icon in the header.

How to hide/show a column

  1. Edit the table macro or import dialog.
  2. Click the eye icon next to the header you want to hide.
  3. The column is removed instantly from view.
  4. Click the same “eye” icon again to show the column.
  5. Click Save to persist the layout.

Why it matters

Hiding columns keeps dashboards and tables focused on the data that matters most—without losing any information. Ideal for tailored reports or simplifying views for different teams.

Acme Co — Business Intelligence

Context and challenge:
BI reports often contain technical columns—IDs, metadata, internal tags—that clutter the view when shared with stakeholders. Analysts must hide or remove these fields in external tools, adding steps and risking data integrity.

Solution – Column visibility toggles:
Before publishing, the analyst clicks checkboxes in the Simple Tables header to hide non-essential columns. Only key metrics and user-friendly labels remain visible. Underlying data stays intact and can be unhidden anytime.

Benefits:
Focused reports: Stakeholders see only the metrics they need—no distractions.
One-click cleanup: Hide or reveal any column without exporting or copying.
Data safety: Hidden columns aren’t deleted, preserving full dataset integrity.
Reusable views: Save visibility presets to quickly apply standard report layouts.

Impact:
Using inline column toggles, the team cut report-preparation time by 40% and improved presentation clarity, boosting executive trust in BI deliverables.
