Reorder Columns via Drag & Drop

You can reorder columns in both the Simple Table macro (for importing CSV/Excel/JSON) and the Simple Table bodied macro (wrapping native Confluence tables). Simply drag the column handle in the Columns tab to rearrange the order and see it update instantly in the preview or table view.

How it works

  1. Edit the Simple Table macro or open the import dialog (or wrap a native table with the Simple Table bodied macro).
  2. Go to the Columns tab.
  3. Grab the drag‑handle (⋮⋮) next to a column name.
  4. Drag it to your desired position.
  5. The table preview or the live view updates immediately.
  6. Click Save to persist the column order.

Why it matters

Dynamic column ordering gives you full control of layout without modifying source data or reimporting. It’s intuitive, fast, and works in both macro modes.

Use case: Prioritize metrics by user role

Acme Corp — Platform Operations

Context and challenge:
Ops teams need different column ordering based on user roles—for example, “Service Status” should appear first for monitoring viewers, while “Last Check” matters more to analysts.

Solution – Drag & Drop reordering:
The Role Manager drags “Service Status” above “Last Check” within the Columns panel. The preview updates instantly, and after saving, the table reflects the new order for all users—no re-import required.

Benefits:
Dynamic prioritization: Tailor column visibility per role.
No dataset edits: Just rearrange headers without changing underlying data.
Immediate feedback: Visual reorder reflected in preview.
Consistent experience: All future renders use the updated order.

Impact:
The ops team reduced repetitive editing by ~30% and simplified table configuration across multiple dashboards.
