Download table as CSV or Excel

Allow users to export table contents as either a CSV or Excel file. Simple Tables adds Download CSV and Download Excel actions so data can be shared or reused outside Confluence when needed.

How to enable

  1. Edit the table macro or import dialog.
  2. Enable CSV download and/or Excel download.
  3. Save or publish the page — the export actions will appear below the table.

Download CSV exports the table as a .csv file.
Download Excel exports the table as a .xlsx file.

What gets exported

  • The exported file reflects the current table content.
  • Exports are useful for reporting, offline review, and reuse in spreadsheets or other tools.
  • CSV is ideal for lightweight data exchange; Excel is better when teams prefer spreadsheet workflows.

Why it matters

Export options reduce manual work and make it easier to move from Confluence to other workflows. Teams can keep a single working table in Confluence and still share the data in the format that best fits their needs.

Acme Corp — Product Team

Context and challenge:
Product teams often need updated lists of SKUs, descriptions, and pricing for other departments. Copying data manually into spreadsheets or external tools adds unnecessary effort.

Solution – CSV and Excel export:
A team member can export the current table as CSV for lightweight data exchange or as Excel for spreadsheet-based review and analysis.

Benefits:
Format flexibility: choose CSV or Excel depending on the workflow.
Current snapshot: exports reflect the table as it is shown at export time.
Less manual work: no need to rebuild the dataset elsewhere.
Easy sharing: data can be handed off quickly to other teams.

Impact:
Teams can move from maintaining data in Confluence to sharing it externally with much less friction.
