Data sources

Simple Tables works with multiple data sources in Confluence. You can import files, build live tables from Confluence Content or Page Properties, enhance native Confluence tables, or use standard Simple Table workflows with Table Excerpt / Table Excerpt Include.

Imported data

Import CSV, JSON, or Excel files into the Simple Table macro from paste, upload, or Confluence page attachments. Currency and percentage markers can be recognized automatically when a column uses one consistent format.

Best for external datasets and recurring file-based workflows.

Native Confluence tables

Wrap an existing Confluence table with the Simple Table with Body macro to add sorting, filtering, formatting, and aggregations in place while retaining supported Confluence-native content.

Best for teams that edit directly in Confluence.

Confluence Content

Build a live table from Confluence content found with filters for content type, space, label, or text.

Best for page directories, content inventories, and live reports.

Page Properties

Collect key/value data from Page Properties macros on labelled pages in one Confluence space.

Best for project registers, status reports, and structured page metadata.

Table Excerpt / Table Excerpt Include

Use tables published through Confluence Table Excerpt patterns with the standard Simple Table macro. Simple Table with Body is not currently supported for this workflow when a table must be embedded inside the macro body.

Best for reusable table blocks shared across multiple pages.

What this means for customers

Teams do not need to rebuild their content model to adopt Simple Tables. Existing Confluence-native workflows can stay in place while adding interactive table capabilities on top.
