CREATE A SCHEMA

Create a schema from scratch

v2.1.0+

Define your own fields in the visual Schema Builder.

Before you begin

Check these requirements before following the steps below.

  • Access to the Simple Metadata app's Schemas tab.
  1. 1

    Start with a blank schema

Open Simple Metadata → Schemas → New schema. On Choose a template, select Start from scratch.

  2. 2

    Name it and add fields

In Schema setup, enter a clear name and description. Add each field, choose its type and give it a label. Use Field group for named nested values and List for repeated items of one type.

  3. 3

    Set validation and reporting

Mark a field required only if every record needs a value. Set available constraints and defaults. Mark scalar fields Indexed when reports need to filter by them. The Field types section explains each control.

  4. 4

    Set access and create

Continue to Permissions, review the access rules, then review and create the schema. Add a Simple Metadata capture macro to an eligible Confluence page to collect values.
