FIELD TYPES

Schema field types

v2.1.0+

A field-by-field guide to the Simple Metadata Schema Builder.

Schema field types

For every field, give it a clear label and description. Mark it required only when every record must contain a value. Scalar fields can be indexed when reports need to filter them; list and group containers cannot.

Field types

Open a guide to see when to use each field and how to configure it.

  • Text fieldsCollect names, identifiers and free-form notes.
  • Number fieldsCapture measurable values with optional bounds and steps.
  • Yes / No fieldsCapture a true or false answer.
  • Single choice fieldsChoose one value from a defined list.
  • Date / Time fieldsCapture dates, timestamps or times of day.
  • Email fieldsCollect a validated email address.
  • URL fieldsStore a web address or URI with link-friendly display.
  • Confluence reference fieldsSelect a page, space or person in Confluence.
  • List fieldsCollect several items with one shared item type.
  • Field group fieldsOrganize named subfields inside one nested object.
