CONFIGURE COLUMNS
Date columns
Use the Date type for deadlines, milestones and other calendar values. Choose how dates appear without changing the source value.
Set up a Date column
Choose Date for deadlines and milestones. Its format changes how a date appears while keeping the stored value intact.
- 1
Edit the Simple Table macro and open Columns.
- 2
Select the column and choose Date under Display → Data type.
- 3
Open Date format, choose a format and check the live preview before saving.
Choose a display format
Use Confluence for a familiar date display, ISO 8601 for an unambiguous numeric format, or Custom to choose your own date and time order.
Confluence
The default. Displays a date in a Confluence-style pill, for example Aug 12, 2026.
Aug 12, 2026ISO 8601
Displays YYYY-MM-DD, for example 2026-08-12. Useful when you need an unambiguous date in a compact table.
2026-08-12Custom
Choose your own order for the day, month, year and time. You can copy one of the examples below; an empty field uses year-month-day.
12/08/2026Custom date format examples
Choose Custom and enter one of these patterns. The right side shows how the same date appears.
- dd/mm/yyyy
- 12/08/2026
- yyyy-mm-dd
- 2026-08-12
- dd/mm/yyyy hh:MM
- 12/08/2026 14:05
The examples use 12 August 2026 at 14:05. A custom format shows the date and time in the viewer’s time zone; ISO 8601 uses UTC.
Preview, invalid values and table behavior
Check the preview before saving to see how readable and invalid dates will appear in the table.
Preview in the editor
The editor previews the selected format using a sample value from the column. If there is no sample, it uses the current date.
Invalid dates
A value that cannot be parsed as a date displays “Invalid date”. Check mixed or ambiguous imported values before saving.
Display in the table
Valid dates render in the Confluence date pill for imported and native tables. The chosen format changes the label inside the pill.
Source value stays intact
The selected format changes the label shown for the date; it does not rewrite the source value.
