CONFIGURE COLUMNS

Number columns

Use Number for amounts, quantities and metrics. Choose the display format, precision and optional progress bar while keeping the numeric value available for calculations.

Set up a Number column

Choose Number for amounts, quantities or measurements. Formatting changes how a value appears while keeping it available for calculations.

  1. 1

Edit the Simple Table macro and open Columns.

  2. 2

Select the column and choose Number under Display → Data type.

  3. 3

Under Number format, choose a format and decimal places. Check the preview before saving.

Example

Example: For a price column, choose Currency. A value of 1234.5 can appear as $1,234.50 in USD format while its underlying number remains 1234.5.

Number formats

These are display formats for the same Number type:

Default

No thousands separator; shows up to the selected number of decimal places without extra zeros.

Example: 1234567.89

Decimal

Adds locale-aware grouping separators and uses exactly the selected number of decimal places.

Example: 1,234,567.89

Compact

Shortens large values, for example 1.23B. The selected precision sets the maximum decimal places.

Example: 1.23M

Currency

Displays a currency symbol or code according to the viewer’s browser locale and the chosen currency.

Example: $1,234.50

Percentage

Displays a percent sign. Values use a 0–100 scale: 75 is shown as 75%.

Example: 75%

Decimal places

Set 0–10 decimal places; the editor starts at 2. Default and Compact may omit trailing zeros. Decimal, Currency and Percentage show the chosen number of decimal places.

Currency choices

When Currency is selected, choose USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CAD, AUD, CHF or CNY. USD is the initial choice. The viewer’s browser locale controls separators and the placement of the symbol; it does not convert the amount between currencies.

Percentage progress bar

Turn on Show progress bar when the format is Percentage. The number stays visible next to the bar.

ValueShown in the tableWhat the bar shows
-10
-10%
Empty: the value is below 0.
25
25%
A quarter of the bar.
75
75%
Three quarters of the bar.
120
120%
Full: the value is above 100.

Examples use 0 decimal places. If you choose 2, the labels appear as 25.00%, 75.00%, and so on.

Bar color options

Choose one color for every progress bar, or let the value determine whether the bar appears red, amber or green. Color changes the bar only; the percentage label remains visible.

Single color

Choose a bar color from the Confluence palette or inherit the table theme accent.

Value-based colors

Use red, amber and green based on two thresholds. The middle range is always amber.

Higher is better

Low values are red and high values are green.

Lower is better

Low values are green and high values are red.

Set the thresholds

The default low and high thresholds are 33 and 67. Enter values from 0 to 100, with low strictly below high. Values at or below low take the low color; values at or above high take the high color. The middle values are amber.
